ProSuite Options - ChineseArts.app

You access the options with the icon next to your name at the top right of the window.

Apart from the global language change, all options have an immediate effect, so you can easily experiment, especially at the display level. This is also the reason why not all display options are detailed here.

General options

Account

Here you will find your login name which is the email under which you are registered on chinese-arts.app

Language

Here you can change the language used in ProSuite. Choose the language you want and click on the button on the right to confirm.

Default timezone

By default, ProSuite will use the local time zone of your computer.You can change this behavior by specifying a particular time zone, for example, to avoid changing the timezone systematically when entering dates of birth of people born in different countries or if you work for someone who lives in another time zone. To do this, click on select a specific time zone and enter the name of the city or country you are interested in. Select from the pop-up menu that appears.

Common views

Here you will find display options that apply to all tools so that they have a certain homogeneity. The support for trunks and branches concerns additional information that is displayed under the trunks and branches to facilitate their identification. This can be useful if you are not familiar with chinese ideograms or for your communication. It is possible to have no support by choosing the option “none”.

Restoring the panes makes it possible to memorize the open or closed position of the side panels from one session to another.

Behaviors

Select on creation

When a new case is created, it is possible to indicate to ProSuite how to behave. The automatic selection makes it possible to make case created the case of work, that is to say that which appears in the left pane. If automatic selection is not activated, you can create as many cases as you want without changing the working case.

As a reminder, the case of work is not necessarily the case displayed in the central space. But it is the reference case to which events or other cases can easily be linked.

Cast on selection

When automatic analysis is activated, as soon as a case is selected, it is automatically analyzed, ie it is proposed to the active tool in the central space (bazi, feng shui, …).

Depending on the nature of the case and the type of tool, the behavior may be different.

Language & conventions

Naming convention

There are certainly many naming conventions used around the world to translate chinese ideograms attached to deities, stars and structures. ProSuite offers 3 in its current version:

The Classic version is the one that sticks closer to the meaning of the ideograms as they can be seen in the various bazi treatises such as 子平真诠 Zi Ping Zhen Quan, 三命通会 San Ming Tong Hui, 滴天髓 Di Tian Sui, 千里命稿 Qian Li Ming Gao, 渊海子平 Huan Hai Zi Ping or even 穷通宝鉴 Tong Bao Jian. It is this version that you find in my book Les leçons de bazi.
The Profiling version is the one developed by Joey Yap to create a more personal and modern vocabulary.
The Goh Guan Leong version is a variation of the classic version used in Singapore and that you find in the books The 4 Pillars of Destiny edited by Marip.

If you use a different naming convention, contact us to see if it can be added in ProSuite.

Stars, structures & Deities

Regardless of which naming convention you choose, you can display stars and structures on the one hand and deities on the other hand in Chinese, Pinyin and English.

Only English is impacted by the naming convention. Chinese and Pinyin are the original terms found in classics.

Show life & conception pillars

If you do not use these notions of Conception Pillar and Life Pillar, you can uncheck this option and aerate the area of the bazi since you will only have 9 pillars displayed instead of 11. You will gain by readability.

Date in main pillars

By default, the 4 pillars have the terms Time, Month, Day and Year at the top of the column. By checking this option you can display the value of the date used to perform the calculation.

Fully detailed luck pillars

For all the pillars, it is possible to display un grand nombre d’informations. By checking this box, only the trunk and the branch will be displayed in the pillars of chance.

Luck pillar years

Each luck pillar covers 10 years, except for the first pillar which may have less. You can choose here to display only the years corresponding to the selected luck pillar, in which case they appear online, or to display in column under each pillar all the corresponding years.

Color entities according to element

Stems, branches and elements can be colored according to the element that corresponds to them: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

Explain all stars

When you click a star at the bottom of the abutment, an explanation pane appears on the left side of the screen. If the option is unchecked, only the explanations for the selected star are displayed. If checked, the explanations of all stars of the abutment are displayed.

Pillar details

Combos, seasons, ...

ProSuite can identify for you the different forms of combinations and indicate them next to the trunks and branches concerned:

	6 combinaisons without transformation
	6 combinaisons with transformation
	top-bottom combinaison withouttransformation
	top-bottom combinaison with transformation
	half-combinaison
	3 combinaison
	season

If a number is present, it indicates that there are 2 or 3 … combinations, if not only one

The color indicates the element, here the fire.

Clash, harms, punitions, ...

ProSuite can spot the various forms of clashes for you and indicate them next to the trunks and branches concerned:

Computation

Clash & combo adjacent

As for the clash, harms, destructions, punishments and combinations inside the bazi, ie the 4 basic pillars, they will only be taken into account if the stems or branches concerned are adjacent if the option is checked. Otherwise, they will be taken into account irrespective of the relative position of the pillars.

Silent push, half combo

You have the option of choosing three possibilities of partial 3 combinations:

Ignore them
Use the silent push that shows the cardinal branch if the stable and the grave of the 3 combination are present
Use the half-combination if the stable and cardinal or the cardinal and the grave are present.

Type of calendar

You can choose the type of calendar you are working with: solar or lunar. Cases that have already been created retain the type of calendar with which you created them.

You will find the solar or lunar symbol in the cartridge if there is a difference in the bazi induced by the choice of the calendar. If this symbol does not appear, it has no impact on this bazi.

Hour management

ProSuite provides 3 ways to handle hours, which has an impact on the notion of day or night used in certain calculations to evaluate the strength of the day master for example, as well as the hour pillar in the case of uneven hours.

equinoxial hours are the simplest. Duration 2h, the day begins in mao, ends in you.
seasonal hours follow the same principle, but the day begins in chen, ends in shen in winter, starts in mao, ends in you in spring and autumn, starts in yin, ends in xu in summer.
uneven hourstake into account the reality of the sunrise and sunset at the date and place considered. It is therefore essential to provide a place and work in real time (average or apparent). If you choose this mode, alerts may appear in the case edit panel to remind you of these conditions. If they are not met, ProSuite takes seasonal hours instead.

This option sets the default choice. You can edit it directly when creating or editing a case. Each case can use a different time processing mode. You will find in Le Bazi, une aide pour la médecine traditionnelle chinoise published by Marip some explanations of this approach and examples.

Early Zi hour

There are two types of time processing zi:

Early Zi next day: at 11pm the day n, the hour pillar is that of 0am the day n+1.
Early Zi: at 11pm the day n, the hour pillar is that of 0am the day n.

ResET

All your options are saved on the workstation you are working on (apart from the language that is stored on the ProSuite server). There is no recording to do, as soon as you press an option, it is taken into account and memorized.

Pressing the Restore button returns you to the default values for the calculation options shown in the image on the right.

Feng Shui options

Ajdust rotation in sub-sectors

If this option is not enabled, the 3 subsectors of a sector are displayed centered on the corresponding palace, regardless of the mountain of the facing.

If the option is enabled, the 24-mountains wheel is adjusted so that the sub-sector and the exact degree of the sub-sector if it is defined is facing the palace. Check and uncheck to see the difference.

Alternate stars mapping

ProSuite offers you the two most used organizations in the presentation of annual, monthly, daily and hourly stars.

Flying stars

Solar or lunar gua

By default, the gua is set in solar, but you can decide to calculate it as lunar.

Lunar or solar calendar

By default, ProSuite calculates the flying stars based on the lunar calendar. But you can decide to calculate them with the solar calendar.

Repeat monthly star

In the case where the calculation of the stars is done in lunar, a shift in the calendar occurs. The question then arises of managing the catch-up of this lag. Most often it is done on the basis of the intercalary moon for which the value of the star of the previous month is repeated. Prosuite proposes a second option where this catch-up is done on the 13^th moon when it takes place.

Beginning of year

When the monthly star is repeated on 13 moons, this option indicates that the year change must occur on a earth qi, so the month where the month star is 2, 5 or 8, and not according to the usual criteria.

Monthly star

By default, the monthly star always flies yang. But it is possible to indicate that in summer, therefore between the two solstices, the monthly star flies yin.

Daily star

The star of the day deploys in time decreasing or increasing depending on whether it is between the summer and winter solstice or the reverse. But it is possible to stall this deployment change on yuan changes.

Daily star timing

The date on which the star change takes place is indicated by the previous option. But the value taken by the new star that day depends on the calibration of that star. It can be performed on the nearest Jia Zi or on the next Jia Zi.

Structural 5

There are rules that determine how the structural must fly when it is in the central palace. This option eliminates these rules and ensures that it always flies yang.

Yi Jing options

Show only mutant yao

For the taoist yijing, displays the complete resulting hexagram or only the mutant yaos.

Color according to element

Colors the branches according to the associated element: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

Qi Men options

Default grid

Choose here what type of grid is created by default: time, day, month or year.

If you have subscribed to the Destiny option and the Cast on selection option is enabled, this option may be bypassed by a grid of type Destiny if you select a case.

Naming convention

There are certainly many naming conventions used around the world to translate the Chinese ideograms attached to the deities, stars, gates and structures of the Qimen. ProSuite offers 3 in its current version:

The one used by Joey Yap,
The one proposed by Joseph Yu,
The one proposed by the software Metasoft.

If you use a different naming convention, contact us to see if it can be added in ProSuite.

Structures

You can display the structures in Chinese, Pinyin and English. Only English is impacted by the naming convention. Chinese and Pinyin are the original terms found in classics.

Explain all structures

When you click on a structure in a palace, an explanation pane appears on the left side of the screen. If the option is unchecked, only the explanations for the selected structure are displayed. If elel is checked, the explanations of all palace structures are displayed.

Color entities

Colors entities according to the associated element: wood, fire, earth, metal and water, or according to the fact that they are favorable, or don’t color them.

Loshu in the background

Displays the loshu at the bottom of the palace, which is perhaps all the more useful as it is possible to turn the grid of the qimen.

Destiny

Domains

Choose here the display language for domains or destiny roles in the different palaces: English, Chinese or Pinyin.

Show starting age

ProSuite offers two different conventions to display age in a palace of destiny:

Starting age indicates that the palate is active between this age and the next palace age.
Ending age indicates that this palace is active between the age of the previous palace and that age.

Starting age is a homogeneous mode of operation with the bazi luck pillars and that is why it is the default mode.

Computation

Early Zi hour

There are two types of time processing zi:

Early Zi next day: at 11pm the day n, the hour pillar is that of 0am the day n+1.
Early Zi: at 11pm the day n, the hour pillar is that of 0am the day n.

Zhi Run/Chai Bu calendar

ProSuite supports both types of calendar processing: the Zhi Run extension method and the Chai Bu replacement method. A reminder of the method used is displayed at the bottom right of each grid.

Solstice reference

The solstice is an important point for the calendar. For compatibility with other computers on the market, the default option is to evaluate for the qimen the Solstice in Beijing time. But you have the option of using your local time which will provide a different calendar.
